LOCKDOWN 2.0 F.A.Q

All your lockdown questions answered on learning to drive.

You will be able to find the answers you are locking for regarding learning to drive during lockdwon and driving lessons and tests recomencing.

Is it true that driving instructors can not teach?

Yes is the short answer. Whilst in the last lockdown we were allowed to teach critical workers and do tests with them this time we are not.

Can my partner or parents take me out to drive?

Yes and no.

Firstly the person accompanying you must be over the age of 21+ Have held a minimum of 3years as a full driving license holder, And the vehicle is insured with learner insurance too.

So Yes, you can have Practise drives with your parents or partner, But, This can only happen during an essential journey aka driving to the shops or pharmacy during a lockdown and back only. If you are driving for practice sake, this is classed as an unessential journey so no in this instance you can not have private practice sessions.

Insurance companies have now got special clauses in place since the first lockdown, meaning if you are disobeying a direct government instruction, your policy could be null and void. Meaning at this point you are driving with no insurance. Which if pulled by the police, could result in points and fines just for this. Further to this, the police can pull you over and fine you for non-essential travel, this fine can start from £100 up to £10,000 for repeat offenses.

When will driving instructors be allowed to teach me again?

At this moment in time, the DVSA and Government have indicated we can recommence driving lessons from midnight on the 2nd of December 2020. Though this is subject to a lockdown not being extended past the 2nd of December 2020

Are Critical/emergency workers allowed to have driving lessons and tests throughout lockdown 2.0?

No. This time around the DVSA and Government have decided this will not happen. During this lockdown, lessons must cease for all the general public and Critcial/ emergency workers.

When will theory tests recommence?

DVSA and Government have updated their documents, and have stated theory tests will recommence from 2nd December 2020 subject to no lockdown extension

Will I have my canceled test before Christmas?

At this time it is hard to say. Whilst it's been reported some of our clients have been given a new test date in December some have been given dates February/March next year. If you had a driving test booked for November, Please check your Junk or Spam Folder as this is Where All DVSA Emails end up regarding driving tests.

I'm a new driver and I want to learn with BubbLe Driving School, Can I start to book lessons in now for 2nd December?

At this time no, Our instructors have to accommodate their pre-lockdown clients first and secure their slots, then we can allocate new bookings to new clients of bubble driving school. At this time, we are aiming to recommence bookings from Monday 30th November 2020 for December Start. This is subject to lockdown finishing on 2nd December 2020 and not being extended.

Shall I contact my current instructor and book lessons to start on/from 2nd December?

Yes!!! Our instructors are operating a rolling booking system. This means book your lessons to commence from 2nd December 2020 onwards as per normal. Your instructor will confirm your lessons to go ahead 7 days before lockdown finishes. They will arrange prepayment to secure your slot, if you can not do prepayment until after lockdown, your reserved slot will be offered to another client. Please contact your instructor when you are able to.

If lockdown is extended, your lesson slot will be booked to the same day and time the week lockdown does finish, this way all clients have been treated fairly and have their consistent driving slot reserved.

What happens if I'm training to become a driving instructor?

If you are in the early process, Keep revising for your part one exam, if you are in the training hours for parts 2 and three, continue to practice what you have been taught and read the training manuals that were issued in the meantime this will benefit you greatly with all the spare time given now.
